about

An ode to moving back to your hometown.

lyrics

i went for a little drive this sunday
i drove up to the mountains
and i found my friends around a fire
chanting all the names of their enemies
i took my time taking the key
out of the ignition

and i thought about the last time
i sat out on the prairie
drinking beer around a fire
watching the horizon

so i revved up the engine
and i drove up to the summit
oh, i looked for dusty buildings
and grass beyond the forest
i found nothing but my home
and smashed up booze-y bottles
hums came from the highway,
it kinda sounds like waves now

i thought about the last time
i sat down in a cafe
i can't say what i did there
but i laughed til i cried, oh!
